kate E Rose update April 30 2009

Katy and kate were hoping to be coming home today, she is holding her blodd sugar much better on her own although they are still monitoring very carefully without her IV drip.
Her runny little C.Difficile poos sem to be a tad bit better but still running and she is still lazy at eating.
The problem now is that her Bilirubin isnt going down and it should be now that she is one week old today. they will be drawing blood to do some test for a couple different blood disorders, something having to do with red blood cells bursting before they should and keeping bili from going down. If there is a blood disorder, the pediatrician says that they are quite manageable,i asked what does quite manageable mean? they say like stay away from Goats milk and Flava beans, anyone know what a Flava bean is? LOL
Guess it wont be too tough to manage if thats the biggest issues. LOL
Isaiah is struggling with this being away from home and mom so long. He and I went down this afternoon to visit,i stayed with kate and they were able to take a walk and play Monopoly in the play room for a while. He will be back with us now, since this whole trip is taking just way too long. So there is where we stand now....
We are hoping perhaps this weekend? saturday for homecoming? i will keep you all posted as we progress. thanks for all your thoughts a prayers, keep them coming.

Kate E Rose update April 29 2009

We saw Baby kate last night, she is still in the hospital but in the reg pediatrics ward now. She is just as cute as can be but still having some trouble.
She seems to be awake more and looks around alot, quite alert and makes those funny little new baby smiles.....
We were hoping last night that she would be finishing her antibiotics and heading home today or tomorrow, but this am Katy called in tears and they are not letting her go home. She is not feeding well enough, she is not keeping her own blood sugar up,and her bilirubiin continues to increase and now she is testing positive for C. Difficile, prob why the tummy aches and all the diarrhea. The poor thing.
they are hoping to avoid using the Flagyl for the C. Diff(its not a fun med at all to take) and having Katy do some "Nazi Nursing" technique. Trying to get her to nurse better, get more liquid and then to get the rest of it all to turn around.
Katy is very upset and wants more than anything to be home. Isaiah is really having a hard time as well,he is missing mom alot and just wants to be home.
I will continue to keep you posted as things go along.
Also, yesterday was Stans birthday, the big 64....we did get a chance to have dinner out after visiting with baby last eve,the kids were home with my wonderful friend of 30 yrs who is back in the area, after living out of state for several years.

prayers please?

Sweet Baby Kate was taken by ambulance to the hosp last night after she stopped breathing at home. She is now on her way to the NICU with the critical Care transport team in Walnut Creek, she was diagnosed with Meningitis after many hrs of tests and spinal tap.
She is very sick but the neonatal nurse feels that since she is NOT having some certain traits of severeMeningitis,a change in cry, seizures etc that perhaps its very early and she will do ok,now and as far as any after affects that meningitis can cause.
Please keep our baby in your thoughts and prayers or however you feel comfortable doing it and i will keep you all posted as we progress.

slumber party

katy is overnight one more night at the hospital, some blood work that has to be drawn and then they have to keep the baby 24hrs following. So rather than checking her out at 9 pm,they kept her. Thank goodness.
Both kids have seen and held baby and laurel cant get enough. She could and did sit for hours last eve at the hosp and hold her. Very Cute. Zak enjoyed as well, just not nearly the patience or attention span of course that laurel has.
Isaiah came home with us for the night, and for the first time, all three kids wanted to and actually did sleep together in the living room. I have set up and attempted slumber parties in the past with those three but one, usually Zak never makes it and climbs in with me. Last night was different, all three slept together on the couch, how?? im not sure but they did.
We are now swaiting katys cal to go get her and get her home and situated.

Cubie T ball pics i promised

Cubbie T ball

April 15 2009
The kids both started "cubbie" T Ball this eve,it was cold and windy out but we fared the weather and off we went.
The coach is great and has some good help as well. laurel just gets right into it,no problems at all getting started but zak is a bit less quick to catch on,not quite as sure what is to be expected of him.
They practiced running the bases, laurel did great but zak needed a hand the first time around, the second time around he needed a hand part way and the third time he just needed some support near by as he ran on his own all 3 bases and then home.
They both loved catching the ball in their own little mits and then throwing it back to the coach "over hand". i have some pics that will come soon. Pretty cute and fun.

"He is RIsen" Easter Sunday

Easter weekend was fun and the best weather in a long while.
Saturday we went to childrens wonderland with Isaiah and katy for an Easter Egg hunt, the kids had a blast, the Easter bunny was there and laurel and isaiah participated in a bunny hop contest where they hopped from one end of the lawn to the other in a burlap bag.
Easter Sunday we spent the day with Grama in Walnut Creek at the annual easter picnic and egg hunt. The kids enjoyed their day, well, laurel did, poor zak didnt get to sleep out his nap and was down right misreable a good portion of it,causing us all to be somewhat misreable fortunatly ,Egg hunt time came and his attitude changed.
So there has been choc easter bunny for breakfast for the past couple days.i think most is gone now so we can start eating right again. the kids have to visit the DDS this weekend. UGH

April 3-6 2009 Disneyland

Isaiah arrived Thursday eve after school, all the kids ate well, bathed and tucked in fairly early. now would they sleep? first of all, Isaiah was there, thats always so exciting when he comes to stay the night. LOL and then we were off to Disneyland in the AM. They did, they slept well and arose the next am in good spirits. We head out the door, car all packed with movies for the DVD,books, travel bags i had put together for each with snacks, new etch a sketch, pens, crayons and paper and so forth. The first stop Isaiah announced "its not really a car trip unless we stop at Starbucks first" LOL so we stopped for our frappacinno's and then on we went.
We stopped for a late breakfast/brunch,potty stop and were back on the road to arrive at our motel around 4:30pm. Kids were tired but in good spirits, they had travelled amazingly well. They went for a swim,we had some dinner and went to bed.
Up early and off to the shuttle for Disneyland. We didnt have to wait long on any of the lines for the rides,15 mon at most and then you were always moving so it wasnt really a waiting feeling at all.
Isaiah loved the Star wars Star Tour,as did dad. The little ones did as well.
Wandered thru the park, seeing what there was and doing all the usual. Its a small world was a hit,Pirated of the "care bean" as the kids called it was NOT. It scared them but they did ok.
Stan and isaiah went back to the Jedi training academy and the little ones and i went to stand in line for over an hour, the only one that long to see the princess's. Yes!!! the princess's. It was very cute, all the little girls, and dragging brothers as well to see Cinderella and snow white etc. They then dump you into the princess store. YES!!!!!! 50.00....yes freakin 50.00 later laurel had a white, frilly Cinderela princess wedding dress. I still cant believe that i did that. Zak kept bringing things saying "she needs a tiara, glass slippers, purse etc etc ...the list goes on. I stopped at the dress which she proudly displayed wearing thru Disneyland,as did many other little girls who had gone to see the Princess and suckered their parents the same way Laurel did. OK OK tell me she doesnt look absolutly darling in it.
California adventure the next day was ok, we didnt stay there long as all 3 kids had early melt downs, back to the motel for late afternoon naps and then back to Disneyland in the eve to finish off the trip. Each night we could see the parks fireworks from our motel balcony and the last night we were in the park for it so that was esp fun. The entire trip was a great sucess, the trip home as well, about the last 40 min things got tense, they were all done travelling,as were dad and i as well.
We have seen Disneyland,we dont have to go again for another 10 yrs. It was a fun trip and the kids had a ball. Enjoy the pics. I will add more when Stan gets his pics down loaded.
